I find if I'm working on one big thing for a while, (i.e. the T4s) it takes me some time to shift my focus back to writing. This year I was fortunate. I only had to do 10 T4s, whereas other years I’ve had to do up to 20. Doing T4s can be somewhat annoying and frustrating in the sense that even if someone was employed for a very short time, (i.e. one pay period) the employer (me) still has to issue a T4 to that person come next tax season; and if that person is employed early in the year, good luck trying to get their current address a year later, especially if they leave on “not good terms.” Every now and then, (thankfully not often) a person will give a wrong Social Insurance Number. Whether it’s deliberate, or a honest momentary mental switching of numbers, it can easily become a big ordeal. This year, I’m excited and thankful to have all that behind me for another year; plus I also have my own personal tax return completed, so yay on me!

So in knowing I can’t always immediately turn one switch off and flip another one on, I got inspired to tweak my website (GBHull.com). While there are no BIG changes, it feels kinda good to give it a “fresh coat” of something appearance-wise.

In doing so I’ve contacted a few of my GO-3D alumni pals to see if any updates are needed for the links I have for them. I was happy to hear that Heidi (The Grateful Baker) is not only still thriving with her bake goods business, but she’s also started her own non-profit farmers market and is the Manager of the Greater Bedford Farm & Craft Market, opening this coming June.

Although I haven’t yet connected with her directly, I know that Camilla Thompson has released another children’s book, “Nova Scotia Bummer”.

|
And in reconnecting with Darren Surette, I learned that he’s now associated with Scream Media. During our chat, we came up with an initial idea that’s now in the works. So stay tuned folks!

Another one of my greatest joys of late has been reconnecting with my Grace (“Alumni”) group. We’re now again meeting at my place once a month. I know it may be hard for others to understand, but these folks (and folks at Calvin Church) feel more like family to me than 98% of those who are “supposed to be” my family. I so appreciate and love these people, and being able to again be in the same space, chat, laugh, learn, and share, is a true gift.

For those who still don’t know, I finally had my 3-month check-in with my Oncologist on February 17th, (after 3 postponements due to snow storms) and my most recent full body scan (in January) showed NO cancer ANYWHERE! There's a tiny, tiny shadow under the left side of my forehead, but nobody's worried about that, so I'm not gonna worry about it either. (If the experts aren’t worried, why should I be?)

|
While there, I told my Onclogist that one of the countless things I truly appreciate about the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre staff is that although I KNOW they're crazy-ass busy, (it's obvious) I never feel like they're giving me the bum's rush. They always take time to explain things, answer questions, discuss further medication options (if needed). They are truly incredible people.

|
Once again I'm feeling deeply grateful to the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre, my staff/attendants, and my Lord Jesus, my church families Calvin Presbyterian Church - Halifax, and Grace (alumni/group). All of whom mean everything to me.

I still owe a ton of emails to several folks from Christmas. I do get frustrated sometimes that my typing speed cannot even attempt to keep pace with my thoughts, ideas, and desires, but then I have many, many, understanding friends.

I almost always think that things happen for a reason and usually we don’t know what that reason is til much, much later, if ever. So this past weekend when a stomach bug kind of made me slow down for a minute or two, I ended up watching “I Can Only Imagine” (the first movie. A second movie is either out, or coming out), the true life’s story of MercyMe’s lead singer/song writer, Bart Billard. That led me to watching a really cool documentary/interview, on YouTube. It’s called: “Fame to Faith: How God Changed My Life” I’ve longtime known that Alice Cooper is a strong Christian of immense faith, but it was great fun to listen to his take on how the public first perceived him, as opposed to the person he really is. Dennis Quaid (who played the role of Bart Billard’s highly abusive father, in “I Can Only Imagine” (1) was also an enjoyable and interesting segment; while in watching Mel Gibson, I saw an overjoyed human but I also thought: “Mel, buddy. What are you on?” lol; And I wasn’t at all familiar with Terry Crews, but his transformation from wanting revenge to giving forgiveness, made my own heart soften a little towards a few people who have caused great hurt in my past.

I do hope with most of the financial crap behind me, (except for those stupid financial quarterlies) you’ll be hearing from me more often.

So until next time, and with love always.
